Mothers - In the Front Line Trenches of Life

To the dear mothers who read this - you are noble and strong and carry such a heavy load! You fight for your children and your husbands and are building the foundation of society with every prayer you pray, every lesson you teach, every meal you cook, every snuggle you give. The rewards and delights are yours with each little child's hug, and you have the privilege of seeing the world with the freshness and clarity and purity of your child's eyes! You also are blessed with the joy of helping and watching them learn and grow. But, you  are often weary and tired, and many times you fight discouragement and fear on a daily basis. We think of soldiers being the battle - but Mothers have just as real of a battle they face every day! Is there any other job that requires the level of putting off of self for the betterment of others that being a mother does? But the other side of that self-sacrifice is the depth of joy we get to experience when we see our young ones mature into adults and find their place in the world. Many mothers also have another layer of responsibility as they lead and work in other spheres. I have heard a mother who works outside the home, comment that her time with her children in the home is harder than her job in the workplace that she can leave! Although to be fair - I realize anyone in an entrepreneurial endeavor can experience the 24-7 aspect of work that is never finished and can never be left as well - each project for the entrepreneur might have similarities to growing and birthing a child, but then, on to the next project. Being a mother requires maintenance of the 'before' projects while you continue to add new ones! But all this to say...Dear Mothers - no matter what your situation, your job is 24-7 and you work hard!!

Dear ones - please hear what the Lord says of you and your children!

"Strength and dignity are her garments; she smiles about the future." ~ Proverbs 31:25

"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book." ~ Psalm 56:8

"Those who sow in tears shall reap with joyful shouting." ~ Pssalm 126:5

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up." ~ Galations 6:9

"See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. ~ Matthew 18:10

"but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 19:14

"He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young." - Isaiah 40:11

You are dear and close to the Father's heart as are you children - and

"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." ~ Isaiah 26:3

To the mothers in my life, my dear daughters-in-law and my dear mother-in-law, I exalt you for all you do! Busy and radiant women, all three of you! Both my daughters-in-law are juggling their family life and responsibilities with remodels of their homes, and my mother-in-law who is almost 80 is raising a granddaughter, busy in church, and when she sent an email about what she was doing over Easter weekend, it was a mind numbing number of activities!  These women are heros to me!

But they must do battle in the heavenlies to persevere and I battle for them and also for myself as a mother of four - plus two :) - and grandmother of 9. :) Did you catch that?  Yes Aaron and Christina are expecting number 3, due in August! In honor of their third I wanted to add a few pictures of their first and second children. Ezra is incredibly talkative and intelligent, at 3 he knows his alphabet and was writing and spelling correctly a few words already on our chalkboard last time he was here.  We made a tent at the bottom of a bed, and he feigned sleep for a picture, then slept there all night! :) As we were having lunch together, each at either end of our island, he said, 'Move over next to me.' :) Melt this Grandmomma's heart! He makes great tracks and it is fun to see him using this track set that our children played with 30 years ago! And Aimee stayed with us for the first time a few weeks ago, and did great.  Such a sweet little princess!

My prayers go out to all the dear Mothers reading this, and I ask you to please also keep my dear ones in your prayers as they work hard and don't give up!

Ephesians 6: 10-24 ~ "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you. I have sent him to you for this very purpose, so that you may know about us, and that he may comfort your

hearts.Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love."

And may the Lord bless the mothers who read this with victory in the battle that is daily life as a Mother, and may they also experience and reap the immeasurable joys! Keep on!!

Much love to you all!!

PS...my daughter is not a mother but she is a wonderful Aunt who invests in her nieces and nephews as much as her time allows...she takes them on long walks to swim in the creek, teaches them piano, teaches them science related things, teaches them Hebrew!, watches movies with them, take them on special outings one on one and many other things.  So she deserves some recognition as well!  Here are a few snaps of her with them. :)
